Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) is a minimally invasive procedure used to open narrowed or blocked coronary arteries. It helps restore proper blood flow to the heart muscle. Balloon Angioplasty Technique for Coronary Artery Revascularization

During this procedure, vascular access is obtained through the radial or femoral artery using an introducer sheath. A coronary guide wire is carefully advanced through the narrowed section of the coronary artery. Over this guide wire, a balloon catheter is positioned at the site of the blockage. The balloon is inflated to compress the plaque against the artery wall and widen the vessel. In many cases, a coronary stent is placed to keep the artery open after balloon expansion. Fluoroscopy imaging is used throughout the procedure to guide the devices and ensure accurate treatment.
