HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of Prostate) Introduction
HoLEP is an advanced surgical procedure used to treat urinary blockage caused by an enlarged prostate. It uses holmium laser energy to remove obstructing prostate tissue. This technique provides effective and long-lasting relief from urinary symptoms.
Advanced Laser-Based Prostate Enucleation Technique
HoLEP is performed under general or spinal anesthesia for patient comfort and safety. A laser resectoscope is inserted through the urethra to access the prostate. Holmium laser energy is used to precisely separate enlarged prostate tissue from the capsule. The removed tissue is pushed into the bladder during the procedure. A morcellator is then used to break the tissue into small pieces and remove it safely. This technique ensures complete removal of obstructing tissue with minimal bleeding.
Clinical Indications for HoLEP Procedure
